Welcome
Primrose Road is a street in the terrifically DooWoppy Jersey shore town of Wildwood Crest, where my family spent summer vacations. In college, I wrote a play about a fictional motel on Primrose Road; there was lots of water imagery in it. (I no longer write plays.)
I read Hamlet for the first time in the ninth grade. Our English teacher had us read Oedipus the King and later showed us Zefferelli's (Mel Gibson) Hamlet, so of course I thought that the Freudian interpretation of the play was new, exciting, and sexy.
Twelve years later, I try to caution my own students against playing "Find the Oedipus Complexes."
So ... welcome.
