The companies behind the MMORPGs are probably evil enough to try to claim copyright for what anyone says or does in-game.

Absolutely. It's what cyberlibertarianism is all about: jumping up and down at the possibility of "freedom" in wandering through virtual worlds and creating your own experience, until the companies bring out their copyright fangs. And it's why Second Life consists entirely of billboards and sex.
